Known to the locals as the Genoa Candy Dance, this annual event was initially planned as an attempt to raise money for streetlights for the town. In 1919, the women of Genoa organized a dance where, in the interest of earning donations, they served homemade candy and a midnight supper. The dance proved successful and earned its place as an annual event on Genoa's yearly calendar.
This year, at Genoa's 89th Annual Candy Dance, you can expect to find a plethora of arts and crafts, jamming music and the popular Saturday dinner and dance. Visit Genoa September 25-26. For more information, call the Genoa Town Office at 775-782-8696.
