WHEN YOU THINK "SHOPPING DESTINATION,"the words "Reno, Nevada" might not be the first that come to mind. But after a look through the following pages, you'll probably have a change of heart. You can fill your shopping bags at high-end designer boutiques, name-brand outlets, funky little thrift shops, dusty antique malls, sporting goods stores, and, well, let's just say that if you want it, you can probably find it somewhere in Reno-Tahoe.
Like a well-stocked casino buffet, Reno's shopping scene has a little bit of everything. The stylish will find clothes and shoes galore at three big malls filled with all the major department stores and national chain stores. Bargain hunters will hear the call of the numerous name brand outlets located in Reno and Lake Tahoe. And for the hip and independent minded there are countless cool little indie clothing boutiques scattered all around the city and plenty more in the mountain towns surrounding the lake.
But really, shopping isn't all about clothes, is it? No way. If endless conversations about shoes aren't your thing, there are still plenty of shopping destinations that will be more your speed. If your trip to Reno-Tahoe is taking you out into the great outdoors, you can pick up new gear at several outdoor shops and outfitters which stock everything from high end mountain bikes and kayaks for summer adventures to skis and snowboards for winter fun. If it's art you're looking for, there are several galleries representing many local and nationally recognized
artists. And Reno is nothing short of heaven for antique lovers. Virginia Street is pretty much one long antiques row, and there are numerous antique stores and vintage thrift shops full of treasures just waiting to be discovered. But what's a trip without souvenirs? If gifts are what you're after, why take home simple t-shirts when you can pick up a chainsaw sculpted bear statue at Lake Tahoe?
Still not finding what you're after? There are plenty other shopping experiences in Reno-Tahoe that defy categorization. But suffice to say, if you can seek it, it can likely be found at one of the many shopping destinations that call our region home.
